What is Direct Contact Deletion?
Most DataGrail integrations allow for both access and deletion to be facilitated automatically via API. However, if a 3rd party vendor with which DataGrail has built an integration connection does not facilitate deletion support via their API, DataGrail provides a Direct Contact Deletion option.
With this option enabled, DataGrail will facilitate API access on a given system when a Privacy Request is in the "Extracting Personal Data" state. Once the Privacy Request moves to the "Pending Delete" state, the system will initiate an automated Direct Contact workflow with the Direct Contact Processor.
The system will only enter a Direct Contact Deletion workflow if PII is identified in "Extracting Personal Data". If a system does not identify PII, no Direct Contact emails will be sent out.
How is Direct Contact Deletion Enabled?
If a 3rd party vendor with which DataGrail has built an integration connection does not facilitate deletion support via their API, the option for a Direct Contact Deletion will appear at the bottom of the modal for that integration, allowing the choice to Disable Deletion or select Direct Contact Deletion.
In order to connect an integration with Direct Contact Deletion, API credentials and processor email address credentials must be provided.
